At last Friday’s 118th annual Founder’s Day Convocation, Dr. Mollie Adams, accounting assistant professor and MSA program coordinator, won the Caterpillar Inc. Faculty Achievement Award for Teaching.
“This award is designed to recognize new faculty who devote an unusual effort in ensuring a quality classroom experience and who have high standards for rigor and currency of course content,” Dr. Simon Petravick, accounting professor and department head said. “There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that those characteristics apply to Dr. Adams. Our whole department was thrilled to learn that she has been formally recognized for the great work she has done.”
While Petravick submitted the application to nominate Adams for the award, others contributed to the nomination, as well. Dr. Coleen Troutman, associate professor of accounting, and Susannah Gawor, former director of the MBA and EMBA programs, wrote letters of support.
Additionally, Petravick obtained supporting letters from three accounting alumnae: Kim Pouilly ’11, Lindsay Spencer ’14 and Stephanie Brush ’14.
“They were all a big part of telling the story of why she (Adams) deserved this award,” Petravick continued.
Adams was truly honored to receive her award.
“I know Bradley University has an outstanding array of great teachers and professors,” Adams remarked. “And to be recognized this way is an amazing honor.”
Adams has been at Bradley University for four years, in her fifth year now.
“It’s a highlight every year at fall advising time when my students come in, and I get to hear all about their full time jobs or internships that they have accepted,” Adams said. “It is also a highlight when an alum emails me to let me know that they have passed part or all of the CPA exam.”
Foster College of Business administration also commented on Adams’ award.
“Dr. Adams has been superb in the classroom,” Associate Dean Jason Garrett said. “Furthermore, she has gone beyond expectations by taking leadership in the Master of Science in Accountancy program at such an early stage in her career.”
“Dr. Adams’ dedication to providing an exemplary learning experience in the classroom, along with her devotion to her students, completely personify what the Caterpillar Inc. Faculty Achievement Award for Teaching is all about,” Dean Darrell Radson said. “The Foster College of Business and I congratulate her on her award and many more years of success!”
