Fourteen accounting students and two accounting faculty members recently toured Purina’s corporate campus in St. Louis, Missouri.
There, the group received informative presentations on the benefits of utilizing LinkedIn and behavioral interviewing.
“Managers from internal auditing and financial reporting gave presentations about the type of work that they do,” Dr. Simon Petravick, accounting professor and department head said. “Purina recruits our students for both internships and full time employment.”
Accounting students had many highlights during the trip.
“I enjoyed seeing the employees bring their dogs to work, learning more about the auditing program and the traveling opportunities it presents, listening to the manager of the financial accounting department, and receiving all of the advice that they gave us about LinkedIn and the accounting profession in general,” junior accounting major Jessica Calicotte ’16 from Mapleton, Illinois said.
“One surprising thing I learned,” Calicotte continued, “is that Purina offers its employees the opportunity for growth and are flexible and easy to work with if employees ever have the interest to try something else within the company.”
Traveling to Purina allowed her and the other Bradley accounting majors to network and bond with other students.
Calicotte and her peers learned more about the accounting profession and all the facets and areas that accounting students can pursue upon graduation.
