Due to popular demand, Bradley University Police announce the addition of a 2nd Hilltop Safety Cruiser.
The safety program utilizes trained student employees to provide shuttle transportation for students, faculty and staff within the Bradley University patrol area (bordered by Moss Avenue, Columbia Terrace, Western Avenue and Sheridan Road.) The Hilltop Safety Cruiser is in operation Sunday through Wednesday 9 pm to 1 am and Thursday through Saturday 7 pm to 3 am.
BUPD Chief Brian Joschko says the program, which began in 2012, has been very popular. “We transport on average approximately 77 students, faculty and staff each day. By operating two vans, we can more efficiently transport students resulting in reduced wait times, and most importantly transport more people.”
The additional vehicle was partially funded by a grant from the PNC Foundation. Joschko says the department anticipates having both vans in operation full time after Thanksgiving break. However, the hours of operation for both vans may be revised depending on demand. He also says they are seeking more trained student drivers.
