Bradley Chorale Performs Through Illinois for Spring Break Tour

Bradley Chorale will be taking their annual spring break tour from March 9 -12. This year, they will be performing throughout Illinois in Dixon, Rockford and Oak Park.

“I choose locations based on a loose sort of rotation of geographical areas. This year we are giving concerts in two churches that have hosted us before and in a church where one of my students has connections,” said Dr. John Jost, professor of music performance and Chorale director.

Churches are one of the better places to perform due to good acoustics.

“They are also willing to house and feed us and take an offering, all of which reduces the cost of the tour,” Jost said.

During the tours, the Chorale often performs in high schools where members or Dr. Jost know the chorale director.

“Singing in schools is valuable for recruitment and for our music education students to see good high school choral programs,” Jost said.

Morgan Nenne, senior music business and public relations major, loves going on tour.

“I love to sing and perform, and getting to do it with a group that is like a family is just a really amazing experience,” Nenne said.

Nenne appreciates the experience she gains by singing in different languages while on tour.

“It will make any of us an asset to another music group or production after we graduate,” Nenne said.

Laura Saunders, senior interactive media and music major, finds the spring tour to be very satisfying.

“Performing the music we have worked on all semester for a different audience every day is the best and most rewarding thing about the tour,” Saunders said.
