Scimo ’85 named Centurion, Distinguished Young Alumnus

Manufacturing engineering alumnus Michael Scimo ’85 received Centurion and Distinguished Alumnus Award honors during Founder’s Day 2016 activities at Bradley.

He retired from Accenture after three decades with the professional company in which he became a global managing director who managed the company’s 5,500-employee Chicago office. As a leader for Accenture’s Global Chemicals and Natural Resources Practice, he doubled the practice to a $1 billion business. His client experience spans a range of private sector industries and two branches of the U.S. government. Scimo also led Accenture’s North American Corporate Citizenship programs, a part of the company’s “Skills to Succeed” initiative that has equipped more than one million people worldwide with job skills.

Additionally, Scimo is a board member of Skills for Chicagoland’s Future, a nonprofit that provides employment opportunities to more than 1,000 needy Chicagoans. He’s a founding board member of Skills for America’s Future, a national nonprofit designed to expand the Chicago “Skills” model. He also serves the Commercial Club of Chicago and has served the boards of Junior Achievement, the Civic Consulting Alliance and Accenture Foundation.
