Bradley Music Video Debuts

Convocation Held for Class of 2017

08/28/2013 4:15 PM

Freshman Convocation was a night of important “firsts” on the Hilltop. After welcoming the 1,080 freshmen with encouraging words, President Joanne Glasser noted that last year’s freshman class and this year’s class have the strongest academic profile of any entering classes in the last 30 years.

Since these students also bring to campus a history of impressive involvement in high school clubs and community service, Bradley’s 240 student clubs and organizations will benefit from that sense of commitment. To celebrate, Glasser composed and posted her first tweet, which was directed to the first Bradley class to have its own hashtag: #Bradley2017.

Bradley’s first music video, “One More Night in Peoria,” debuted to rousing applause. With entertaining lyrics written and performed by Josiah Williams ’14, the upbeat video showcases Bradley, along with an overview of how much the vibrant All-America City has to offer students and their families. Following the official class photo, Glasser challenged the freshmen to prove how truly social media savvy they are by re-tweeting the photo, posting and tagging it on Facebook, and sharing it with family and friends on Instagram.

“Let’s see how much social media exposure Bradley can generate,” Glasser said. “From all your social media activity tonight, I randomly will choose one of you to have lunch with me this semester.”

Two live performances featured talented students: Kaybee Brown ’16, a member of the top speech team in the nation; and Lost Soles, a student dance troupe. The evening ended with an ice cream social on Alumni Quad.

A final first? The incoming class was the first to receive free Bradley red and white sweatshirts, uniquely designed for them. Look for these freshmen to make a fashion statement this fall!
