Bradley University is proud to announce it has been awarded a $2 million grant from the State of Illinois to support capital improvements on campus. The funding, appropriated from the Build Illinois Bond Fund to the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, was confirmed during the finalization of the state’s FY26 budget.

Bradley President James E. Shadid expressed his gratitude to Illinois legislative leaders for their continued support of the university.

“This investment is a powerful affirmation of Bradley’s role in shaping the future of Illinois,” said President Shadid. “Capital improvements are vital to creating a vibrant learning environment. This funding allows us to strategically enhance our campus in ways that directly support our students, faculty, staff, and the broader Peoria community.”

The university is grateful for the leadership of Senator Dave Koehler and Majority Leader Jehan Gordon Booth for their sponsorship of this initiative, and for the entire local legislative team for their continued belief and support of Bradley University. Their advocacy helps to ensure Bradley remains a strong institution that is a resource for Illinois.

“We are grateful for the ongoing belief our elected officials have in Bradley’s mission,” Shadid added. “Their support ensures that Bradley remains a strong, forward-thinking institution that serves as a resource for our region and beyond.”

Planning is already underway to allocate the funding toward projects that will enhance the academic experience, improve campus infrastructure, and strengthen Bradley’s community impact. Details about specific improvements will be shared as they are available.
