BU-CAN Alumni Gathering

The Bradley University Communications Alumni Network, or BU-CAN, held a gathering in at The Phoenix Gallery in Chicago on Friday, June 24. Jennifer Bridgeforth ’94, a BU-CAN board member, owns the gallery.

“This is the second networking event held by BU-CAN in Chicago. We plan to host one in St. Louis soon, as well,” said Reggie Bustinza ’03, a BU-CAN member and associate director of alumni relations at Bradley.

During the event, Dr. Paul Gullifor, chairman of the Department of Communication, shared a department update with the crowd of about 35 alumni.

“I touched on many of the accomplishments the Department of Communication marked during the past year, including everything from speech team results to personnel moves to curriculum revisions and awards and achievements of faculty, students and alumni,” Gullifor said.

“The update by Dr. Gullifor was fantastic and really showed how successful the department is and how alumni can get involved,” Bustinza said. “I think events like this show alumni how strong our alumni base is. Many don’t realize that there are so many alumni in their area, and they enjoy reconnecting with other graduates of their department.”

Gullifor believes that such events show alumni the benefits of staying connected with Bradley.

“Our alumni help us in everything from lending their expertise to recruiting students to Bradley to hiring our students for jobs and internships,” Gullifor said.

BU-CAN hosts four or five alumni events every year.
