Beards seem to be all the rage these days and the Bradley University Police Department is on board. The BUPD extended No Shave November to No Shave December in an effort to raise money for two local charities.

Officers donated money in order to forgo shaving for two months. The November funds were designated for Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Peoria and the December funds are going to St. Jude. Bradley University’s Interfraternity Council, Panhellenic Council, and National Pan-Hellenic Council assisted with the solicitation of donations.

This afternoon, with help from children who participate in the Boys & Girls Clubs, the BUPD revealed a generous $1,679 dollar donation. The kids were more than happy to participate in the big reveal. Officers spent time coloring with the kids and also handed out stickers and candy canes.

Police Chief Brian Joschko suspended the department’s policy on facial hair through the end of the year for this fundraising effort.
