The second quarter 2014 business and economic indicator Summary Index for the Peoria-Pekin Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA; Peoria, Tazewell, Woodford, Stark and Marshall counties) was unchanged from the previous quarter’s 96.7 level maintaining earlier gains to remain 0.7 percent above the previous year’s 96.0. The Center for Business and Economic Research (CBER) in the Foster College of Business at Bradley University reviews over 30 diverse business indicators in its quarterly assessments. The CBER computes its quarterly Summary Index of key local business and economic indicators for the Peoria-Pekin MSA to reflect business activity in the MSA on a seasonally adjusted basis. Peoria-area economy report shows stability
1.5 percent more people were working in second quarter of 2014

PEORIA — Despite second-quarter declines in construction, manufacturing, hospitality and retail, the number of area residents who were working in the second quarter was 1.5 percent higher than in the first quarter of 2014, according to the latest Bradley University quarterly Statistical Composite of the Peoria Economy report.

PEORIA — The Shoppes at Grand Prairie development has been good for business — and the city of Peoria, noted a Bradley University researcher. Bernie Goitein, director of Bradley’s Center for Business and Economic Research, studied sales tax receipts received by Peoria from 1998 to 2013 and concluded that Peoria gained almost $39 million in Peoria Home Rule Tax receipts from sales that received a boost from the presence of the Grand Prairie mall that opened in 2003.
