College New Year’s Resolution – Sarah M

College New Year’s Resolution – Sarah M

03/09/2020 1:17 AM

It’s been quite a few years since I have made New Year’s resolutions! With the craziness of the holidays, New Years always comes and goes so quickly that I forget to take a minute to make resolutions. This year I made a conscious effort to plan out some ways I’d like to be better this year. I love the idea of self-improvement and the new year is a great excuse to give it an effort! Here are some of my school-related resolutions:

  • Study everyday
As the senioritis kicks in, I found myself skipping days last semester. If I had clinical, a long workday, or even just a lazy Saturday I would make excuses that I didn’t need to study that day. I would tell myself that I would study extra on another day to make up for it but that wasn’t the best system for how I learn. I don’t need to spend multiple hours on a daily basis studying for my classes but it would really benefit me if I would spend a little bit of time every single day to build on my knowledge so that when exams come around I’m better prepared!
  • Eat out less
My roommates and I loved a good ole Friday night Taco Bell trip (and Monday night and Tuesday night etc.) I ate out a ton last semester! Eating out got expensive and really unhealthy. My mission is to work on my cooking skills and eat way cleaner this semester!
  • Plan out my weeks better
I’m a huge fan of google calendar, in years past, my google calendar was a beautiful rainbow of organization… this semester not so much. I need to get back to really thorough organization throughout my week, this will keep me on top of my responsibilities and keep me more at ease knowing where I need to be and what I need to be doing!
  • Say “no” more
In the theme of better planning of my weeks, I need to be better at saying no. I hate the thought of missing opportunities but I also hate the thought of not getting those few extra hours of sleep! I need to get better at prioritizing what is really, really important. No more overextending!
Kind of a boring one, but if I could finish my day with a little bit of reading instead of scrolling through my phone I know I’ll be able to fall asleep easier and get better rest. If you have ANY good book recommendations, please let me know! 🙂 I’m currently reading Educated by Tara Westover!
  • Drink less coffee
College has made me coffee obsessed! As much as a love a good caffeine kick to get me through the day I want to try to drink less coffee and work on other more natural ways to wake up/stay focused. I hate the thought of being dependent on coffee to get me through the day and it’s a great way to save $$ too!
  • Go out of my way to enjoy it
This is my LAST semester of college (terrifying) so it’s a huge goal of mine to really enjoy the last few months as a student. I want to spend more time with friends, make better connections with my professors, workout more, and really take in the last little bit of Bradley. I want to make an effort every day to be more grateful for the opportunity to be at Bradley! I’m so determined to have the last semester be the best one!

If you have any good resolutions let me know!!!
