Assistant Professor for Sports Communication, Angela Pratt, won the Caterpillar New Faulty Award at Founder’s Day ceremony, October 12, 2012.
The award is given out every year to a new teacher who demonstrates exemplary teaching styles and is able to engage the students in new ways.
Pratt came to the Department of Communication in 2009 and has become one of the most respected new professors. Her area of specialty is Sports Communication. Unbeknownst to Pratt, she was nominated for this award.
“It was a complete surprise. Some of the Communication faculty and staff knew, but they kept it a secret,” Pratt said. As the award was being given, Pratt felt valued and honored for being recognized.
“I felt happy, honored and proud. Teaching takes a great deal of time, care and effort; and it felt wonderful to be recognized for something that I work so hard to accomplish,” Pratt exclaimed.
Pratt will continue to strive for excellence in her class and, above all, will continue to encourage her students to reach for the stars. “It means the world to me to be so valued and appreciated by my colleagues and students. Receiving this award will motivate me to continue to create an excellent learning experience for my students,” Pratt said.
