The College of Education and Health Sciences is proud to announce 13 of its students recently received Outstanding First Year Student awards, an honor given to students who take an active role on campus, help inspire peers and seek to be a leader.

They are: Andrea Barr, elementary education; Kathryn Dempsey, nursing; Megan Ewan, nursing; Hannah Huffman, secondary education and English; Alexandra Iacobucci, nursing; Kaitlin Karlin, nursing; Lauren Klomes, elementary education and foreign language; Samantha Krasinski, pre-education and health science; Alyssa Malfitano, nursing; Allison McCann, early childhood/elementary education; Hallie Nissen, elementary education; Lauren Tash, nursing; Marea Tennant, early childhood/elementary education.

The award is given to students of EHS 120, also known as the “University Experience,” a class that helps students during their first year at Bradley transition to on-campus living. Professors nominate and write letters of recommendation for the selected students.

At the end of the semester, the Alumni Association hosts a banquet to honor the student-leaders. The event allows students to network with alumni who are leaders in their communities and career fields.
