Darby named Co-op/Intern of the Year

Kayla Darby ’15, a teacher education major, received the 2013 Outstanding Co-op/Intern of the Year award for the College of Education and Health Sciences.

Darby was honored for her 2013 volunteer work for Camp Big Sky in Farmington, Ill. Darby began as an intern at the camp for people with disabilities, then continued as a volunteer. As part of her internship, Darby implemented curriculum she developed in the classroom.

Over the past three years, Bradley graduates averaged a 93 percent placement rate, which means those graduates found employment or continued education within six months of graduation.  The high placement rate is bolstered by job-seekers’ experiential learning as students, with 96 percent of students participating in experiential learning projects and 84 percent taking internships while in school.

The Outstanding Co-op/Intern of the Year is awarded by the Springer Center for Excellence in Internships, which is part of the Smith Career Center. One student from each College is chosen for the annual honor.
