The Department of Communication in the Slane College of Communication and Fine Arts at Bradley is pleased to announce the winners of the Spring 2014 Ebeling PR-ize.  In this competition, student teams compete against each other to develop a campaign that partners a non-profit organization with a for-profit entity.

The winning campaign is “Stay Alive Hang Up & Drive.”  The student group members were David Clemente (Chicago, IL), Shelby Duitsman (Ogden, IL), Evan Fay (Lincolnwood, IL), Mary Perisin (Peoria, IL) and Emily Wolfe (Crystal Lake, IL).

They worked with the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office and State Farm agent Corey North to create a community wide campaign urging people to make the pledge to not talk on their cell phones without a hands-free device while driving.  The goal was to spread awareness of the hands-free cellphone law in Illinois and educate Peoria residents about the dangers of distracted driving.  Visit their Facebook page to learn more about their campaign at https://www.facebook.com/hangupanddrive.

The Ebeling PR-ize was established in 2004 by Bradley graduate and centurion Chuck Ebeling (’66) to recognize excellence in Public Relations.  Ebeling retired in 2000 as head of corporate communications for McDonalds where he launched the global Ronald McDonald House program.
