Peoria Lunaire Presents Pierrot Lunaire

Peoria Lunaire, the Bradley University faculty chamber ensemble, will give its spring performance on Wednesday, April 16, at 7:30 p.m. in Dingeldine Music Center.  A preconcert lecture will be presented at 7:00 by Dr. John Orfe.

The ensemble, which debuted in November 2012 as a permanent faculty performance group, will present a complete performance of its namesake composition Pierrot Lunaire, composed by Arnold Schoenberg. Premiered in 1912, Pierrot is regarded as a paragon of 20th century music.

The Bradley faculty members of Peoria Lunaire are Marcia Henry Liebenow, violin; Timothy Archbold, cello; Dr. Kyle Dzapo, flute; Dr. Stephen Heinemann, clarinet; and Dr. John Orfe, piano.

John Orfe will perform The Diabelli Project, a collection works written this semester by members of his own music composition class.

Bradley guitar instructor Michael Hull will present his Of Kindred Spirit for guitar and soprano saxophone. The concert also features premieres by current Bradley composition students, including Kinza Hagerup, Baili Martin, and Jacob Retz, as well as Prometheus Rises for clarinet and string quartet by 2011 graduate Michael T. Harris.

Other composers who will be represented include the iconic Americans Aaron Copland and Libby Larsen.

Admission is free of charge.  For more information, contact Dr. John Orfe at 677-3824.
