Faculty Member to Give Piano Solo Recital

Faculty member Dr. Chee Hyeon Choi will present a piano solo recital on November 1.

Bradley University faculty member Dr. Chee Hyeon Choi will present a piano solo recital on November 1 at 7:30 p.m in Dingeldine Music Center, located at 1417 W. Barker Avenue. Admission is free and open to the public.  

The program will include J. S. Bach Partita No. 3 in A minor, Beethoven Sonata in E major, op. 109, Rachmaninoff Preludes in G minor, op. 23, no. 5 and G# minor op. 32, no. 12. Earl Wild’s Etude No. 4, based on the Gershwin’s song, Embraceable You, will also be featured.

Dr. Choi has been a faculty member at Bradley since 2013. She teaches Applied Lessons, Keyboard Skills, Advanced Keyboard Skills, and Piano Pedagogy. She founded the very first Bradley Summer Piano camp in 2014 for middle school and high school students. Her recent competition awards include second place in the American Protégé International Piano and String Competition, where she performed at the Carnegie, Weill Hall in New York in April 2012. She was invited again to perform at the Winners’ Recital of the American Protégé International Competition of Romantic Music in March 2014. She was also awarded honorable mention from the Buono & Bradshaw International Piano Competition in 2010. 

Dr. Choi has been an active clinician at national and regional conferences, and has been invited for a presentation at the Illinois Music Teachers Conference in November. As a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM), she served as president of the UIUC MTNA and also was the vice president of the Decatur Area Music Teachers Association.
