Former Miss America to Discuss Eating Disorders
Kirsten Haglund, Miss America 2008 and a survivor of anorexia, will give a talk, titled “Sexy, Shameful, Stigmatized: The Modern War on Women’s Bodies, Eating Disorders, and How to Break Free,” on March 3.

Kirsten Haglund, Miss America 2008, a survivor of anorexia, will give a talk titled “Sexy, Shameful, Stigmatized: The Modern War on Women’s Bodies, Eating Disorders, and How to Break Free,” on March 3 at Bradley University. The free presentation will take place at 6:30 p.m. in Neumiller Lecture Hall in Bradley Hall and is open to the public.
Haglund is an ambassador for National Eating Disorders Association, an international women’s empowerment speaker, President of the Kirsten Haglund Foundation, television personality, and vocalist. In February of 2009, she founded The Kirsten Haglund Foundation and serves as its current president. The mission of the Foundation is to raise funds to provide treatment scholarships to assist families and individuals battling eating disorders. Kirsten began recording music with Nautilus Records in 2009, as a way to continue her love of singing, and use her music to bring increased awareness to eating disorders and other charitable causes. Haglund currently is working as a Community Relations Specialist for Timberline Knolls Residential Treatment Center
