Four lucky Bradley students got the internship of a lifetime during January Interim. Molly Geraghty, Jillian Kelly, Lauryn Landacre, and Amber Stoneking had the opportunity to work with Bradley alumna and Centurion, Laura Herlovich ’79 in Las Vegas. The interns were on the set for multiple shoots of the History Channel reality show “Pawn Stars,” including one that involved a taping of Good Morning America with guest-host Kris Jenner

“This is the kind of experience that can’t be taught in a classroom. Being able to observe in person was invaluable,” Stoneking said.

The interns were prepared to step in and have various pop-culture items appraised for GMA if needed. They also got to be extras on the set of Pawn Stars and met the regular cast.

Landacre was one of two advertising majors in the internship that is typically geared toward PR majors.

“I was a little nervous at first because being an advertising student, we don’t get much emphasis put on public relations in our education track. However, I am so happy that I got to experience this opportunity,” Landacre said.

Landacre believes that she will now have more skills to utilize in a future career.

“I am a more well-rounded communications student now, and being able to partake in public relations first-hand taught me the exact differences between advertising and public relations,” Landacre said.

Working with Herlovich was a valuable opportunity for all of the interns, who now look up to her.

“A person that is in this industry has to be up for anything and I believe that Laura has succeeded very well. All of her clients respect and love her, which is very aspiring,” Kelly said.

“Laura was a great host, is a wonderful representation of Bradley and is even better at her job. I hope one day in my future I can love my job as much as Laura loves hers and be as good at it as she is,” Geraghty said.

Each of the interns got a better understanding of the importance of real-world experience and will never forget their time in Las Vegas.

“I highly recommend this internship for any communications student that is hungry for real-world experience in an industry that is hard to get into: entertainment,” Landacre said.
