There’s good news for college students who will be graduating with bachelor’s degrees in 2015. A new report shows hiring for new graduates is expected to jump by an average of 16% next year.

The annual report is conducted by Michigan State University’s College Employment Research Institute (CERI). Some 5,700 employers responded to the CERI survey, which asks about hiring plans for students who will finish school in the spring of 2015.

Jon C. Neidy, Executive Director of Bradley University’s Smith Career Center, says the study finds employers are recruiting new college graduates at very high levels. “It is a great year to be a college graduate. Graduates of 2015 are going to have more employment options than graduates of the past five years. And there are six sectors reporting double-digit growth ranging from 16 to 51 percent.”

The sectors with the highest hiring outlook are:

  • Nonprofits
  • Manufacturing
  • Government
  • Professional, business & scientific services
  • Finance & insurance
  • Information services

Neidy says the Smith Career Center advisers will use this information to help students prepare for today’s job market. “We provide comprehensive career services to students and alumni. They can explore and define career options, develop job search strategies, obtain career-related work experience and identify and connect with prospective employers.”

The Center provides individual career advisement, job search workshops, a career information library with a database of more than 2 million employers nationwide, a one-credit course in job search strategy, several job fairs, a graduate/professional school fair, and campus interviews with prospective employers.
