WINNIPEG, 1 June 2015 – The World Trade Centre Winnipeg (Winnipeg WTC) and Illinois International Trade Center (ITC) signed an important collaboration agreement in the industrial sectors that will promote mutual cooperation and includes, among many other, specialized manufacturing and technology commercialization. This partnership will contribute especially to increase access for Manitoba businesses to the US market.

“We are convinced that this is a major announcement in the broader context of the 2011 Memorandum of Understanding between the Province and the State of Illinois,” emphasized the CEO of WTC Winnipeg Mariette Mulaire, during a press conference held with the delegates of the ITC. “Manitoba companies will maintain good contacts through the Small Business Network of the Americas which gives us access to over 1,100 centers throughout the United States and hundreds more in Latin America. “

“Our ultimate goal is to create a long term relationship to facilitate efforts by our customers to achieve their respective markets,” says the director of the ITC Jim Foley. “We also offer an on-center access to expertise in local markets, industry sectors and companies and will provide information on topics such as broader opportunities nationwide and best business practices, especially in regard to NAFTA.”

Peoria is the third largest metropolitan area in Illinois. It houses Bradley University, the National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research and Caterpillar Inc. World Headquarters. The economies of Winnipeg and Peoria represent specific opportunities between the two cities in terms of markets of importing and exporting, plus opportunities for cooperation between cities and regions.

ITC and WTC decided to establish this partnership because of their mutual interest to build stronger links, expertise in their respective sales teams, and their proven ability to create strong international partnerships. They are also both recognized as leaders in their local business community.

The World Trade Centre Winnipeg (Winnipeg WTC) is a member of the World Trade Centers Association, the largest network of international trade, which represents more than 300 world trade centers in almost 100 countries. WTC Winnipeg offers help and support to Manitoba businesses wishing to expand beyond the borders of Manitoba and provides services to international companies wishing to do business with Manitoba businesses.
