When Carl Anderson’s band begins to play you know it’s going to be a real party! New Orleans Jazz is supposed to be fun. So, go ahead and get your groove on. We are not about to discourage you.
Carl Anderson & His New Orleans has been entertaining the Central Illinois area since 1996. This seven-piece authentic traditional jazz group performs your favorite classic New Orleans favorites presented with its own distinct personality. Although the group’s style is modeled after traditional Dixieland fare, all the band members add a dose of contemporary individuality while performing. They have released three albums, including a self-titled “Favorites”, “Playing in Peoria”, and their most recent, “The Second Line”.
Carl Anderson plays trombone and is its leader and musical director. Local favorite, Doug Myers plays trumpet and Craig Bullis travels from Keokuk, IA to handle the clarinet work. Nationally recognized, Lance Dieckow, plays the plectrum banjo and Jason Shea performs on both bass and tuba. Jazz and funk artist, Jeremy Clark, plays drums and Denny Schielein performs his famous stride piano style and is the group’s vocalist.
