Music business major Kinza Hagerup ’15 of Dousman, Wisconsin, has been named the 2014-2015 Presser Scholar by Bradley’s music department. Bradley President Joanne Glasser gave the department’s most prestigious award in a short ceremony November 19.
The award, which includes a financial award for academic expenses, is given each year to an outstanding senior music major.
“I am so blessed and honored to be chosen for this award,” Hagerup said. “I’ve worked really hard to get to this point. This award definitely is an encouragement that I’m going in the right direction.”
Hagerup has studied under Bradley faculty Dr. Edward Kaizer, Dr. Chee Hyeon Choi and Shirley Salazar. One of her compositions has been performed by the University’s faculty ensemble, Peoria Lunaire. Additionally, Hagerup is active in the University chorale and opera outreach. She also plays organ and piano for Princeville Presbyterian Church.
Hagerup will pursue a master’s degree in collaborative piano and hopes to perform or teach at the collegiate level.
