My Bradley Bucket List

My Bradley Bucket List

03/05/2020 12:01 AM

When I applied to be a Student Admissions Representative (STAR) as an incoming freshman, I wrote a Bradley Bucketlist as a part of my application. Being the younger sister of a current Bradley student at the time, I thought I knew exactly what should be on that bucket list. Recently, I was looking through all of the documents on my computer and came across this list almost four years later. I decided to read it and see what little incoming freshman me wrote. Here’s what it said:

  1. Attend a Bradley visit day and become friends with your tour guide.
  2. Make at least one best friend during orientation (I plan on checking this one off real soon!)
  3. Participate in every event during Welcome Week.
  4. Take a picture with your roommate on the Bradley sign.
  5. Attend your floor activities when you live in the dorms.
  6. Try to avoid the “Freshman Fifteen” (if you can).
  7. Take a picture with Lydia every year.
  8. Go to at least one Bradley sporting event each year.
  9. Catch a Chick-Fil-A cow at a basketball game (I did and can check this one off!)
  10. Take a picture with Kaboom!
  11. Pull an all-nighter in the library.
  12. Get locked in the basement of the library (because you pulled an all-nighter).
  13. Make it on the dean’s list for at least one semester.
  14. Tan on the quad.
  15. Take a selfie with the guest concert artist at each concert.
  16. Join at least one organization.
  17. Take a picture on the alumni quad in your cap and gown. You did it!
  18. Have the time of your life.

As a second semester senior, reading this bucket list made me chuckle. There are so many more things that I can think of now that should be added to this list and honestly, I should’ve continued to add to it as I worked my way through my four years on campus. While I can honestly say I haven’t checked off everything on this list, I can confidently say that I have experienced everything I’ve wanted to and more during my time here on the Hilltop. From finding my best friends, to joining multiple organizations, studying abroad, attending an alternative spring break program and so much more, Bradley has given me everything I could have ever wished for. I share this bucket list with you to give you a list of things to do once you’re on campus, but more importantly to share with you how many incredible experiences and opportunities you can have and cherish here at Bradley. This bucket list should have been unlimited, as there is always something new to experience and get involved with. So my challenge for you is to make your own Bradley bucket list and continue to add to it as you make your way through college. Cross off all of your goals for yourself, cross off everything you pushed yourself outside your comfort zone to do, and really cherish each of these moments.

(And now I’m gonna go before I sob over how soon graduation is).
