I entered my freshman year at BU with two items on my agenda: I wanted to study abroad and I wanted to move to New York City after graduation. While I don’t have the degree quite yet, I’ve already been blessed with both opportunities. I spent last summer studying in Cortona where I fell in love with the Italian culture, climate and cuisine. This summer, I am enjoying the amazing experience of living and working in Manhattan!

My graphic design internship is at Phyto USA, a French haircare line that specializes in environmental awareness and “green” hair care trends. I am working full time within the Marketing Department where I design various orders for Phyto salons across the country, and have also worked on several projects that have already been printed or produced.

One of the greatest aspects of this internship is that I am working closely with a Senior Designer who has years of experience in the industry. I am learning a great deal from her; most importantly, I am constantly being pushed to be a better designer. These critical lessons will all be utilized when I return for my senior year at Bradley.

Working for a brand like Phyto has also given me a great perspective on how a business works, and how every department within a business must be united in order for the company to be successful. Not only have I had the summer of a lifetime in my favorite city, I have been incredibly fortunate to have gained this real world experience. I know that I will be prepared for industry in the Big Apple after I graduate.
