Phi Chi Theta wins four awards at national conference

Bradley’s chapter of Phi Chi Theta, a co-ed business fraternity, won four national awards at the organization’s national conference this summer. The awards received were the Merit awards for Fraternity Spirit & Cooperation, Financial Management, Membership Recruitment & Development, and the 2010-2012 Biennium Award for the Candle of Knowledge.

Two Bradley students represented the chapter at the Rochester, New York, conference. They were Laura Roby, a senior in international business, and Victoria Von Bergen, a sophomore studying accounting. The conference included delegates from 20 other universities nationwide, as well as five alumni chapters.

“it is not the first time that we have received national awards. However, winning four distinct awards reflects the hard work, dedication and enthusiasm of Phi Chi Theta’s members,” Roby said.

At the conference, both Roby and Von Bergen participated in brainstorming sessions about alumni retention and affinity programs and had the chance to meet other Phi Chi Theta members in the region. Attendees also had the opportunity to tour the house of George Eastman, founder of the Eastman Kodak film company.

Phi Chi Theta at Bradley counts more than 40 active students with business majors or minors as members. The group was founded in 1959, making it one of Bradley’s oldest student business organizations. In addition to professional development events, the student group participates in community service events, social events and provides networking opportunities for members.
