Preston Jackson Visual Voices Lecture and Reception – September 1
Join us this Thursday at Bradley University for a lecture by local artist Preston Jackson. Jackson is Bradley University’s Artist in Residence and an exhibition of his work titled A Broader View is currently on display in Heuser Art Gallery. Reception to follow lecture.
Jackson’s recent work deals with the subject of our history-both precise depictions of well-known historical figures as well as innovative portrayals of individuals whose lives, though unfamiliar to us, are part of our history he wants us to learn. Jackson will be presenting both paintings and sculpture at this exhibition.
Preston Jackson received his BFA from Southern Illinois University and his MFA from the University of Illinois. Jackson has been a professor of Sculpture and head of the Figurative Area at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago since 1989. Jackson has served as owner of The Raven Gallery in the Contemporary Art Center in Peoria, Illinois for the past 16 years. His works are mostly shown around the Chicago land area, which includes a bronze relief of Ernie Banks for ESPN Zone Chicago. He was also part of the group exhibition Pierwalk 1996 though 2001, at Navy Pier in Chicago. Jackson and his wife maintain homes in Dunlap and Chicago, IL.
