Hey guys what’s up? I hope you’re having a great week and things are going great. Just a reminder that if you guys ever have any questions or need anything, any of us current Bradley Braves can answer those for you.
So this week I wanted to go over my experience living in the residence halls and living in an off-campus home. I am a senior now at Bradley and this is my first time living in an off-campus home. My first year I lived in Harper Hall which is on the edge of campus near University Street and Main Street by the Starbucks and One World. Harper Hall, in my opinion, was the best dorm, but that’s probably because I lived there. Harper Hall was great for me because I met so many of my friends that I am still close with today there. My roommate and I chose to live in Harper over the other dorms just because we liked the location and layout of the rooms. When we put our housing deposit down we were able to select each other as roommates and ranked the top 3 dorms. We ranked 1. Harper Hall, 2. Williams Hall, 3. University Hall. Honestly, we ranked them all on looks and based on what other people had told us about the dorms, but all of the options for freshman are great. On my floor there ended up being 5 girls plus me that rushed the same sorority. This was super helpful because I felt like I had an even larger community I was apart of and it was only a few weeks into school. My floormates and I would oftentimes go out to Geisert or Williams Hall to get lunch and dinner. Another great thing about Harper was the walk-in closets, I absolutely loved having this. I remember moving into the dorms freshman year and I remember bringing all the clothes I owned because I didn’t know what I would or wouldn’t need in college. My mom was nervous that I was not gonna be able to fit everything I packed into my dorm, but with all the built-in drawers and extra storage room in and above the closet, I was able to fit all of my things in the dorm. I’ve added some pics of how my dorm was set up freshman year too if you guys were wondering how everything was laid out.
Another great thing I loved about living in the dorms was being on the Bradley meal plan. It was honestly so nice having the convenience of being able to eat at any time of the day without having to spend my own personal money and not having to cook or prepare anything. This is something I took for granted when I lived in the dorms. Now that I live in an off-campus house and have to cook all of my own meals I find myself being lazy and eating simple things like quesadillas and sandwiches instead of foods that are homemade.
Now that I’m a senior I live in a house that’s 2 blocks away from campus. I live with 6 other senior girls that are in my sorority. At the beginning of our Junior year, we wanted to get a house together so we found a nice cheap one near campus. At Bradley, you can live off-campus after living on campus your freshman and sophomore year. I chose to live in the dorm freshman year, in my sorority house sophomore and junior year, and then my off-campus house my senior year.
If any of you guys have any questions about living on campus, the meal plans, or anything else feel free to reach out and ask! Have a great week!!
