As we head into November, we know there’s a lot on your mind, including academic advising and getting ready for the spring 2021 semester. We have several updates to help you prepare. Please also review the communication sent to students regarding registration, housing and other items for the spring.
Registration
Early registration begins Thursday, Nov. 12 and continues through Nov. 19. As you meet with your students, you will see new course delivery methods listed in the schedule of classes. You will find definitions for the course delivery methods at the bottom of the search webpage. These are designed to help students find the courses they want in their desired delivery method.

Remote learner or attending classes on campus – designation
As students register, we’re asking them to select their learning preference for the spring semester – remote learner or attending classes on campus. After logging into Webster, they’ll see a red link on the main screen to complete a remote learner selection request and verification form. Screenshots are provided for you to see what the students see.
Students may update their learning preference between now and 5 p.m., Friday, Jan. 15, 2021. However, Jan. 15 is a hard deadline and we do NOT plan to accommodate learning preference changes after this date.
Students are to return to the remote learner selection request and verification form after registering or making a change to their remote learner selection. If they have not been approved, it may be because they chose a course that isn’t available remotely. They will need to identify the course that can’t be completed remotely, drop that course and search by the course type eligible course for remote-only learners in the Bradley University Schedule of Classes. Students are also encouraged to contact their advisor to discuss other course options.
Students will receive automatically generated notifications to verify their remote learning status and if they’re enrolled in course(s) that aren’t designated for remote learners. Additionally, leading up to the deadline, they’ll receive reminders if they haven’t made a designation.
We are still working on a variety of reports for faculty and staff to download and see student selections on remote learning. Further information will be forthcoming.
More on Spring 2021
There’s a lot more to do to prepare for the upcoming semester. We are still well over two months away from its start, and if we have learned anything, it’s that two months is a long time in our COVID-19 world. We wish we could predict the future, but we can’t, so we promise we’ll continue to work diligently and provide updates as best we can.
We anticipate opening the spring semester with similar campus restrictions as the ones currently in place. Our genuine hope is to loosen these restrictions a few weeks into the semester, including having our student organizations host safe indoor events. Additionally, we are looking at COVID-19 testing strategies and ways to serve mental health and well-being for our students, faculty and staff.
All faculty members should be prepared to pivot all their course content online should the university have to make that transition again. Additionally, there may be a scenario where a student has to self-isolate and not attend face-to-face classes, so it’s imperative we are able to deliver classes online at any time during the semester.
We will provide full communication on some of these details early in January to ensure students have an opportunity to make adjustments to their learning preference before the Jan. 15 deadline.

On Wednesday, our region begins mitigation measures through the State of Illinois, and there is a growing concern across the state and country about the ever-increasing number of COVID-19 cases. Let’s finish strong!
