The Saxophone Quartet and Quintet will present a recital on Sunday, November 9, at 3 p.m. in the Dingeldine Music Center, located at 1417 W. Barker Avenue.

Both ensembles include music majors and minors under the direction of Keith Zimmerman, Bradley’s saxophone instructor.

The quintet program will include J.S. Bach’s Air from Cantata 208 Sheep May Safely Graze; Alexander Borodin’s Nocturne; the Finale from Beethoven’s op. 4 Quintet; Anton Rubenstein’s Romance and a medley of swing tunes by Macomb composer/arranger Robert Sibbing.

The quartet will perform two early transcriptions for saxophone quartet – Handel’s Arrival of the Queen of Sheba and Isaac Albeniz’s Sevilla. Rounding out the program are two original saxophone quintets by French composers – Eugene Bozza’s Andante et Scherzo and Pierre-Max Dubois’ Quatour, a suite of four movements.

The quartet is composed of senior Curtis Nelson, Annawan; junior Damairus Reddick and sophomore Matt Zahner, Peoria; and Keith Zimmerman.  Joining them to transform the ensemble into a quintet is Jacob Klein, freshman from Metamora.

The performance is free and open to the public.  For more information, call 309.677.3596.
