The month of April marks Sexual Assault Awareness month, and in recognition, various organizations at Bradley are coming together to create meaningful events on campus.
April 2 | 11 a.m. | Circle of Pride Flag Ceremony
Bradley University’s Students Against Sexual Assault committee organized a flag-raising ceremony to kick off SAAM. Six teal flags will be flown in The Circle of Pride on Bradley’s campus from April 2 – April 6. Community members, students, faculty
April 6 | Rise of the Teal
Students will be encouraged to wear their teal ribbons, something with teal on it, or a teal t-shirt throughout the day and to Late Night BU.
April 9 | 7:30 p.m. | Center for Prevention of Abuse Speaker
Hear from the Center for Prevention of Abuse at 7:30 p.m. in Neumiller Lecture Hall, Room 145 of Bradley Hall. This event is
April 10 | 5 p.m. | When It Happens at Work
The Smith Career Center will be sponsoring this event. There will be a panel with Athena Herman from Benassi & Benassi and Nina/Karen from Bradley’s Human Resources Department.
April 10 & April 11 | Stand Up, Speak Out
This event will take place on Olin Quad. It is a collaborative event between the Wellness Office and the Athletics Department. The purpose is to bring to light facts and statistics about sexual assault, all while being interactive with trivia questions. There are 3 stations of games: corn hole (or ‘bags’), duck pond and plunger toss. Comfort Color shirts and buttons will be given away to all who participate.
April 17 | 6 p.m. | Violence in the Queer Community
This event is sponsored by Common Ground and presented by Outreach Counselor. This workshop will be held in the executive suite located in the Michel Student Center.
April 19 | 9 a.m. | Coffee with a Cop
The BUPD is presenting an open forum in which participants can join them for a cup of coffee and conversation in the Michel Student Center from 9 – 11 a.m. Enjoy free coffee, hot chocolate and teal-colored donuts provided by the BUPD and the Parents Association. This “Coffee with a Cop” is focused on promoting awareness of sexual assaults and the resources available to all people affected by them.
April 19 | 6:30 p.m. | Screening of “The Voiceless”
A screening of “The Voiceless” will take place in GCC 126 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. There will be a small panel that consists of Chief Joschko, Emily Panich and Shannon Erdmann from Center for Prevention of Abuse.
April 25 | Denim Day

April 27 | 2 p.m. | What Were You Wearing
This is a survivor art installation that provides a tangible response to one of our culture’s most pervasive rape myths. There will be 25 outfits recreated from the stories of students on the second and first floors of the Markin Family Student Recreation Center from 2 – 7 p.m. on Friday. The installation will be open to the public and The Center for Prevention of Abuse will have a table with resources and a representative present.
