Showcasing Music Faculty Talent

Violinist Marcia Henry Liebenow and pianist Andrea Molina perform October 24

Violinist Marcia Henry Liebenow and pianist Andrea Molina will present a faculty recital on Friday, October 24 at 7:30 p.m. in Dingeldine Music Center, 1417 W. Barker Avenue on the campus of Bradley University. The recital is free and open to the public.

The program will feature the following works: Ludwig van Beethoven Sonata in A Major, Op. 12, No. 2, Robert Schumann Fantasiestucke, Op. 73, Paul Hindemith Violin Sonata in E Major, and three pieces by Lili Boulanger.

Marcia Henry Liebenow is professor of violin, viola, and chamber music at Bradley University.  She is also the Concertmaster of the Peoria Symphony Orchestra, active as a performer and a teacher across the U.S., and has performed throughout Europe.  Her CD recording of the Grieg Violin Sonatas with pianist Antonio Pompa-Baldi was released by Centaur Records.  In 2014-15 she will be a featured soloist with the Peoria Symphony Orchestra, Purdue Philharmonic and Symphony Orchestras, Salt Creek Chamber Orchestra in Chicago, and the Bradley Symphony Orchestra. In the summer, she is a faculty artist at the Red Lodge Music Festival in Montana and the Birch Creek Music Performance Center in Wisconsin, and has also been an artist at festivals in Canada, Massachusetts, Vermont, and Alaska.
Ms. Henry Liebenow is the recipient of the Outstanding Studio Teacher Award by the Illinois American String Teachers’ Association, the Distinguished Alumni Award in Music from Ohio University, the Women in Leadership Award by WEEK-TV, and has been honored by ArtsPartners of Illinois for her creative contributions to the community. She holds graduate degrees in violin performance from Ohio University and the New England Conservatory of Music.

Andrea Molina is a staff pianist at Bradley University, the principal pianist for the Heartland Festival Orchestra and organist at the University United Methodist Church in Peoria.  As a pianist and collaborative artist, Andrea has played at international conferences, performed with the Molina Duo (cello-piano) throughout North and Central America, and served as principal pianist for orchestras, choruses, and ballet companies throughout the United States. In addition she has been on the staff of Vanderbilt University, Florida State University, Hardin-Simmons University, Abilene Christian University, and Western Illinois University.  As a conductor, she has led opera production and outreach/educational initiatives in New England, Iowa, and Illinois as well as with the Schlern and Orfeo Music Festivals in Europe.
Ms. Molina received the Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, and the Master of Music degree in Piano Performance-Accompanying from the Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida.  Also, she studied Orchestral Conducting at the University of Iowa.
