Bradley staff and alumni received two awards at the annual Federation for Community Schools Annual Forum in Lisle, IL. Congressman Aaron Schock ’02 received the inaugural Community Schools Champion Award for his leadership on the Full Service Community Schools Act of 2014. Along with Congressman Steny Hoyer, Schock introduced this bipartisan legislation that would create a competitive grant program to expand the number of full service community schools across the nation.
Julie Schifeling ’96, MA ’03, outreach program director for our Institute for Principled Leadership in Public Service, received an inaugural Trailblazer Award for her work with the Peoria Full Service Community Schools Initiative and her advocacy on behalf of the community schools education model. The concept brings public schools, nonprofit organizations and local businesses together to provide a broad range of programs and services to students and their families.
