Bradley University students organized a peaceful demonstration in an effort to raise awareness about a critical social issue relating to social injustice on Friday, December 5th. The idea came about after the “Dialogue About Ferguson” event earlier this week where nearly 50 students joined campus staff to discuss the Ferguson case.
The students held a “Die-in” at two separate times today. More than 100 students and many more onlookers participated. The first event was held outside of Bradley Hall and the second inside the Robert H. Michel Student Center.
Student organizers say they hope this event will spur dialogue and shed light on the inconsistency of the judicial system as well as the injustice that occurs to other minorities.
University representatives say they are proud of the students who organized this peaceful protest. “It’s important for the university to empower students to get involved because it is part of Bradley’s mission to develop leaders who contribute positively to the wider society.” As an educational institution Bradley supports and encourages students to exercise their voices on national issues and concerns that they are passionate about.
