Thanksgiving Break (Happy Friendsgiving!) – Sarah S

Everyone loves Thanksgiving. It is a time to sit back, relax, wash your worries away and, of course, eat the best feast you’ve had in a while. From the turkey and all the sides to the pie and festive decor, Thanksgiving is a fall favorite. And nothing is better than having a Friendsgiving feast with your best friends before heading home to celebrate the holiday with your family.

This year, my friends and I thought it would be fun to have ourselves our very own Thanksgiving meal. We created a lovely and organized Google spreadsheet, signed up for a staple dish to bring, and then impatiently waited for the big night to come. I personally struggled with what to bring. I love cooking, but I also love baking so this was a hard decision. After much thought, I ended up going with a turkey because what’s Thanksgiving without a turkey? Now don’t be fooled, I made a frozen turkey that just needed a trip to the oven, I’m not that talented. Nevertheless, it was going to be great and taste delicious.

Finally, the big night came. I brought my turkey to my friend’s apartment and oh my gosh I think I stepped into heaven. The place smelled phenomenal and I swear I got hungrier the minute I saw all the food. We had every Thanksgiving staple you could think of and it was almost all homemade. We all cuddled up in the living room with a lovely YouTube fireplace and talked about what we were thankful for before digging in. After dinner and dessert, cause who could forget about the pie, we continued to talk for hours and enjoy each other’s company as you do for Thanksgiving. It was a great and sentimental college Sunday night and I’m so thankful for the friends I spent it with.
