The Fray to Perform Spring Concert

Peoria, IL (March 26, 2014) The Activities Council of Bradley University (ACBU) is excited to announce that the Billboard Music Award winning and 4-time Grammy nominee The Fray will perform on Wednesday April 30, at the Renaissance Coliseum at Bradley University. The openers will be Plain White T’s and The Orwells.  Doors will open at 7 p.m. with the show beginning at 8 p.m.*  (*please note this is a change of time from previous announcement)

Tickets are on sale now for Bradley students, and they may purchase tickets at the Coliseum ticket office. Tickets will be $15 through April 11 and $20 beginning April 14. The general admission pit in front of the stage will be open only to current Bradley students. Beginning March 31, faculty and staff may purchase tickets for $25 at the Coliseum ticket office. Faculty and staff may purchase up to 4 tickets per ID, and must purchase tickets from the ticket office to receive the discount. Tickets will go on sale to the public for $30 starting April 1 at 10 a.m. online and at any Ticketmaster location.

Coming off of the record-breaking success of last year’s concert, ACBU is hoping to provide an even stronger concert-going experience. This artist was the number one choice on a recent student survey of artist preference.   

“Helios,” the fourth album from critically acclaimed foursome The Fray, was released February 25, 2014, on Epic Records. Of the new music, produced by Stuart Price (The Killers, Madonna, Keane), Isaac Slade (piano, vocals) notes, “Working with Stuart was the best of both worlds. We brought our organic instruments, and he brought his arsenal of electronic antiques. This record is all about running to the front lines of what we’ve done and pushing our borders even farther. Electronic instruments, drum samples, enormous backing vocals, opening up our writing to folks outside our camp.”

The band premiered the lead single “Love Don’t Die,” produced by Ryan Tedder (Adele, One Republic), on the “Today Show.” A flurry of TV performances followed the release as the band performed on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” rang in the New Year as part the global TV celebration “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2014,” and recently performed on the outdoor stage at “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and “The Late Show with David Letterman.”

Most recently, the band performed alongside Pussy Riot as part of Amnesty International’s Bring Human Rights Home show at Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, NY.

The Fray consists of Slade, Joe King (guitar, vocals), Dave Welsh (guitar), and Ben Wysocki (drums). The Denver-based group formed in 2002 after high school friends Slade and King bumped into each other at a local guitar shop. The Fray achieved national success with their 2005 debut, featuring the hit singles “Over My Head (Cable Car)” and “How to Save a Life,” which went double-platinum.

The opener Plain White T’s is best known for their three number one radio hits: “Hey There Delilah,” “1, 2, 3, 4” and “Rhythm of Love.”  Over the course of the past few years, Plain White T’s have sold over nine million tracks and garnered two Grammy nominations.  This past fall, they released an official music video for “The Giving Tree,” the new single from their EP, “Should’ve Gone To Bed” and have plans to release another album, “American Nights” later this year.  The Orwells, the first opening band of the night, is a Chicago indie rock band, who is quickly garnering nationwide attention as they are scheduled to release their debut album, “Disgraceland,” early this summer.

ACBU, the premier student programming board at Bradley University, brings live entertainment to campus, including musicians, comedians and lecturers.  The organization’s signature events include Homecoming, Siblings Weekend, Spring Fling and ACBU Cinema. Nine student-run committees are responsible for the coordination of all performances, events and activities.
