Sophomore Music Performance Major Competes in Flute Competition

Piccolo, flute, recorder, and piano. Those are the four instruments under Clara Capriotti’s musical belt, but her ability with the flute, is earning her regional recognition as a college musician.
Only a sophomore flute performance major, Capriotti competed in this year’s Wisconsin Flute Society’s Collegiate Competition, placing third with her performance of the first movement of C.P.E. Bach’s Sonata for flute in A minor and “Poem” by Charles Griffes.
“Competing at that level was a great source of motivation,” Capriotti said. “Hearing other flutists my age gave me something which I could compare my own sound.”
Capriotti has grown through one-on-one music lessons with Dr. Kyle Dzapo, the Bradley University professor of flute and music history and an internationally acclaimed flutist.
“She is very bright, very talented and very hardworking,” Dzapo said. “That combination has led to her early success.”
Capriotti has taken advantage of the opportunities to showcase her talents on Bradley’s campus. She performs with the Bradley Symphonic Winds, the Bradley Symphony Orchestra and the Bradley Collegium Musicum.
