Unconscious Discrimination to be discussed in April 8 Lecture

Dr. Joyce Yen, Program/Research Manager for the University of Washington ADVANCE Center for Institutional Change, will discuss “Bias, Privilege, and Inclusion: Everyday Examples of Unconscious Discrimination” in a lecture at Bradley University on Tuesday, April 8.
The event, free and open to the public, will begin at 7 p.m. in the Horowitz Auditorium in the Caterpillar Global Communication Center.
Dr. Yen gives presentations and training sessions nationwide on diversity in science and engineering, bias, cultural change in academia, and other related topics. She was awarded the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s 2004 Outstanding Young Alumni Award, the 2007 University of Washington’s College of Engineering Professional Staff Innovator Award, and the 2012 University of Washington David B. Thorud Leadership Award. She received her M.S. and Ph.D. in Industrial and Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She received her B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, graduating from the Honors Program and summa cum laude.
