Winter Break (New Years Resolution) – Ian

Hey everyone!
It has been a hot sec, but I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season! I have enjoyed my time doing pretty much absolutely nothing, the way a break is supposed to be spent, right? In the midst of me doing a lot of nothing, I did make a few New Year’s resolutions for myself for the New Year, and I wanted to share a few of them with you!
#1. Go to the gym (not just while giving tours)!
I love how every time I give a tour to a family, they always are AMAZED at how cool Markin (our gym) is, and every time I ask myself why I don’t actually use all the awesome facilities our gym has to offer. It would great if I actually maybe tried to climb that rock wall, or ran around our track every once in a while. They also say that going to the gym and being “physically active” helps lower stress, and sometimes I do have a bit of that stress…
#2. Ask for help more
Sometimes it’s very easy for me to think I can handle everything that I am trying to balance on my own, but I have slowly learned over time that it’s easier to manage life when you ask for help from those around you. There is nothing wrong with asking for help from the people around me, and with all the many things going on in my life that I continuously try to balance, asking for help might make a little less anxious doing this whole college thing.
#3. Read more
Whether that be for my classes or just for fun, I have realized I have really fallen off the bandwagon of reading. I typically have absolutely no problem staring at my TV for 10 hours binge-watching something on Netflix, but imagine all the books I could read for fun, all the knowledge I could gain, or all the better I could do in my classes. That being said, totally not giving up my Netflix watching, but maybe balance it out with reading a book every now and then.
#4. Save more money (who knows about this one)
I don’t need to buy Starbucks as much as I do, but yet here we are. I am your ordinary, coffee addicted college student. I would love to save more money to go on more trips, get a new car once mine collapses on me, or something else great, but that might mean not going to Starbucks (or even Dunkin) quite as much as I do.
Well, there you have it folks. I feel like 4 goals for me is a solid amount where it’s both manageable, but not overwhelming. Hopefully actually writing these out, and sharing them with all of you will motivate me to do them just a tad more. If you ever see me at a visit day, or around campus feel free to ask me if I actually have been going to the gym or reading more! Hopefully the answer is yes.
Peace,
Ian
