Winter Break (Perfect Excuse To Travel) – Sarah S

Winter Break (Perfect Excuse To Travel) – Sarah S

I love to travel. I have a strong desire to see the world and my bucket list is full of places both in and out of the country that I long to see. Luckily, the long Bradley winter break gives me the perfect excuse to travel and check places off my list. Sophomore year I had the incredible opportunity to participate in Birthright which took me and a few of my closest friends across the world to Israel for 10 days. Then junior year I was fortunate enough to leave the country again through Bradley’s winter study abroad program. I headed across the pond to London with some of my best friends from school and experienced everything London had to offer while taking an English class for about 16 days. Now, while I don’t get to leave the country this winter break, I am so stoked to be heading to Las Vegas with my best friend from home and her family. It’s no Israel or London, but it is still another city that I cannot wait to see during my little one week adventure there.

On top of all of this travel, our long winter break allows me to be home for the holiday season and nothing could be better than that. This year, I am extra excited to be able to be home for both Hanukkah and New Years. With Hanukkah always moving around, it gets hard to celebrate with my family, but this year it falls right when I get home, meaning I get eight full days of lighting the menorah with my mom, dad, and sister. I also get to continue our long-standing New Year’s Eve tradition of a hibachi-style dinner. I swear, even though I have the same dinner every year on NYE, it gets better and better each year. And to add to all of this celebration, a long winter break means getting to spend my birthday with my family doing what I love most, eating good food and cheesecake from my favorite restaurant, The Cheesecake Factory. So to say winter break is a personal favorite of mine would be no lie. From the travel to the traditions and good company, winter break never gets old. I am sad this is my final long Bradley winter break, but I am excited to end it with a bang. I hope all of your winter breaks are just as exciting and hopefully this gives you even more to look forward to at Bradley!
