Winter Break (Winter Break Internship) – Lilly

Winter Break (Winter Break Internship) – Lilly

Hey guys, what’s happening? I hope everyone did great on their finals and is having a great winter break and taking fun vacations with their friends or family! I just finished my first semester of senior year and wow am I happy to be on break. One thing I love about college winter breaks compared to highschool winter breaks is that they’re so much longer. In high school, I think I had like two weeks for break, but now I have 5! This winter break I’m going to be spending a lot of my time working, hanging out with my family and my friends downtown Chicago.

I’ll be working at Executive Construction as a winter intern this winter break. This is the company that I will be working full-time after graduation! I’m really excited to be joining their team and getting a head start on learning their systems and project teams. I got assigned to work on a project in downtown Chicago in the Willis Tower. (Super dope building and project not gonna lie) This project is over 100,000 square feet and will cost about 18 million dollars. I’m really excited to be gaining the skills while working on such a cool project.

I’m also really glad to be working downtown because that means after work I can meet up with my friends and hang out in the city and grab food and drinks after work. I’m hoping to move to Chicago about a year after graduation so having this experience getting around the city now will really help me later down the road. Does anyone else plan on spending some of their break in the city or have any cool places they like to go to? I have a few cool rooftop places I like, but it being the wintertime it’s not as ideal. I also plan on having a weekend in the city with my family where we’re going to go to the Lincoln park zoo lights, the Christkindl market, go ice skating in Millenium and grab dinner.

I hope everyone has a great winter break. I can’t wait to see everyone’s pictures from vacation on here. Feel free to comment and tell me your favorite places in Chicago, or tell me what fun stuff you did this month!
