The Bradley University Women’s Choir, under the direction of Dr. Kerry Walters, will present a spring concert of music for women’s voices on Thursday, April 24, at 7:30 p.m. in the Dingeldine Music Center, located at 1417 W. Barker Avenue. Admission is free for students and $5 for the general public.  Tickets will be available at the door.

The program will feature a variety of music including group pieces from Estonia, Russia, Serbia, and the Czech Republic.  The choir also will perform Dr. John Jost’s arrangements of three Haitian children’s songs.  Rounding out the program is a variety of folk songs, hymn tunes and spirituals from the United States.  Voce Femine, a chamber ensemble from the larger choir, also will perform.  Pianist Andrea Molina will provide piano accompaniment for the group.

The Women’s Choir was established in 1990 to provide women at Bradley with the opportunity to sing music especially written for treble voices in an atmosphere of collegial and congenial music making.  The group rehearses twice weekly and is made up of both music majors and those majoring in other fields of study.

Kerry Walters is associate professor of music at Bradley where she teaches voice, music education, and conducts the Opera Workshop.  Andrea Molina serves as staff accompanist for the Department of Music.
