Steiner Sports Communication Research Conference

November 6, 2026
Online

The Steiner Sports Communication Research Conference is a new, student-focused academic gathering dedicated to traditional and creative scholarship in sports communication.

For this inaugural year, the conference is free to attend and will feature student projects exclusively, creating a dynamic, supportive space for emerging voices in the field. Whether your research explores media representation, technology’s influence on sport, or the cultural narratives shaping athletics today, this conference is designed to spotlight your work and spark meaningful conversation.

The Conference will take place on Nov. 6, and will feature moderated, interactive panel sessions.

Call for proposals – Due April 1, 2026

We are now accepting research proposals on any aspect of sports communication.
Topics may include (but are not limited to):

  • Media relations and representation
  • Social media in sport
  • Sports publicity and promotion
  • Sociocultural, political, and ethical aspects of sports
  • Sports narratives
  • Relationships in sport
  • Technological innovations and their influence on the play and/or portrayal of sport

If your work contributes to how we understand, communicate about, or experience sports, we want to see it.
