Ideas for Good Awards · Design

Present an idea for good on one research poster

The Ideas for Good Awards recognize student ideas that address a social or environmental challenge connected to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Undergraduate and graduate students in any major can enter, on their own or in teams.

Posters due in early November

What you submit

One research poster, uploaded as a PDF.

Your idea should connect to at least one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the 17 goals covering issues like clean water, quality education, reduced inequality, and climate action. The Turner School recommends organizing the poster in six parts:

  1. Project title and team (names, majors, contact information)
  2. Problem statement: what the challenge is, who it affects, and why it matters to you
  3. SDG connection: which goals and targets your idea relates to
  4. Proposed solution: what it is, how it works, and what makes it different
  5. Expected impact: who benefits and how you would measure it
  6. Research and context, with every source cited

If you use AI tools in a meaningful way, include a short statement saying how. You should be ready to explain your work in person at the poster session.

What you get

Every entry receives an award certificate.

Posters can be recognized in ten categories, each with a prize of up to $500. Attendees at the reception vote for the Public Choice Award.

  • Most Innovative Idea
  • Best Problem Framing
  • Most Comprehensive Research
  • Strongest SDG Connection
  • Highest Potential for Sustainable Impact
  • Most Feasible Idea
  • Outstanding Interdisciplinary Collaboration
  • Excellence in Communication
  • Authenticity & Purpose
  • Public Choice

Who can enter

Any Bradley student, undergraduate or graduate, in any major and any year. You can enter on your own or as a team, and students from Bradley partner schools can join a Bradley student team. Interdisciplinary teams are encouraged. A project entered in another Turner School competition can be submitted again if it has made meaningful progress since.

How it works

  1. Upload your poster to the competition portal and complete the entry questionnaire.

  2. Reviewers choose posters to present at the reception.

  3. Everyone who enters is invited to the Ideas for Good Reception, where students whose posters were selected present them.
