Paul Gullifor
Emeritus Faculty
Biography
Paul Gullifor retired in 2025 after 37 years as a faculty member in the Department of Communication. He served as chairperson for the department from 2006 to 2017. He was named the Henry Means Pindell Endowed Chair in Communication in 2009, and was honored with the university’s Putnam Award for Teaching Excellence in 2011. As department chairperson, he was the principal architect of a new major in sports communication, which was launched in 2009, and evolved into the Charley Steiner School of Sports Communication in 2015. It was the first named school of sports communication in America. Originally hired to teach courses in radio and television, Dr. Gullifor spent the last ten years of his career teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in sports communication, and published two books and several articles in that area. In 2021 he was appointed by the president to serve the university as its faculty athletic representative, representing the academic interests of Bradley student-athletes to the Missouri Valley Conference and the NCAA. He remained in that role until his retirement in 2025 and was awarded emeritus status that same year.
