Biography
Dr. Hammond began her nursing journey in 2010 as a student in the Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program. What started as an entry into the profession evolved into a rewarding career shaped by years of continued education, clinical practice, and leadership. She gained early experience in long-term care and rehabilitation as an LPN before achieving her goal of becoming a Registered Nurse at the Children’s Hospital of Illinois, where she worked in general pediatrics.
Through this role, Dr. Hammond discovered a passion for leadership and progressed into positions as a charge nurse, supervisor, and manager. In these roles, she found her greatest fulfillment in leading projects and driving meaningful change. She assisted in the implementation and opening of Almost Home Kids in Peoria, Illinois; developed and implemented a call center in Little Rock, Arkansas; and successfully opened six pediatric subspecialty clinics for the Children’s Hospital of Illinois. Throughout her career, she has led and supported numerous process improvement and RIM initiatives.
Dr. Hammond is excited to transition into her role as an Assistant Professor at Bradley University, where she looks forward to sharing her knowledge and experience to help educate and inspire future nursing professionals.
Teaching
NUR 841- DNP Project I, NUR 735 – Leadership in Advanced Practice Nursing, NUR 526 – Evidence Based Practice. Philosophy – Dr. Hammond’s teaching philosophy is grounded in the belief that nursing education should bridge theory, evidence, and real-world practice to prepare nurses for leadership and meaningful change in healthcare. She is passionate about developing advanced practice nurses who are confident leaders, critical thinkers, and advocates for evidence-based care. Her goal is to inspire future nursing professionals to lead with integrity, curiosity, and a commitment to excellence.
