Jeremiah St. John
Affiliate Low Brass Instructor
Jeremiah St. John is the Affiliate Low Brass Instructor at Bradley University and teaches Jazz
Arranging and Improvisation. Originally hailing from Ft. Myers Florida, he has matriculated to the
midwest to complete his Doctorate at the University of Illinois. He has collaborated with world
class jazz musicians such as Clarence Penn, Yasushi Nakamura, Derrick Gardner, Jim Pugh,
Christian McBride, and has been a featured soloist and composer for the award-winning
University of Illinois Jazz Trombone Ensemble. In addition to his recording with the Flying Horse
Big Band, he has recently been published on Dr. Reginald Lewis’ debut album-tribute, Echoes of
Cherry Street (2025), and singer-songwriter Matt North’s Savoy (2026). He is a member of the
Jazz Educator’s Network, and is a regular faculty member for the Illinois Summer Youth Music
Program in Champaign-Urbana, where he teaches trombone and helps build musical
community through educational programming.
