Biography

Dr. Bourhis earned her Bachelor of Arts in English, with a minor in French literature and linguistics, from Le Mans Université in France. During her senior year, she was an exchange student at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. She then pursued her graduate degrees, M.A. and Ph.D., at Illinois State University.

As a former international student, she is interested in mentoring students coming from diverse backgrounds. She is also always excited to speak French and share her knowledge of French culture with both students and faculty. 

Professional Experience

Before teaching, Dr. Bourhis worked as an editorial assistant at a local nonprofit publisher of international literature.

Teaching

Dr. Bourhis has taught a variety of courses at Bradley University, including:

ENG 101: English Composition; ENG 123: European Writers; ENG 140: Introduction to Global Literatures; ENG 300: Advanced Writing- Exposition; ENG 305: Technical Writing; and ENG 306: Business Communication.

Scholarship

In 2023, Dr. Bourhis collaborated with Dr. Claire McQuerry and translated a collection of poems.

She also published a few interviews with European writers in the literary journal Context. 
Her research and teaching interests include postcolonial studies, life writing, and translation studies.

Service

Dr. Bourhis currently serves as the Composition Committee Coordinator. She is also a member of the Core Curriculum Committee and the European Studies Minor Committee.
