Choose How You’ll Create an Impact
How you support the causes that matter to you at Bradley University is up to you. Whether you choose to make an immediate impact through the Bradley Fund, leave a lasting legacy with a planned gift, or contribute leadership and endowed gifts to support students, faculty, athletics, and more, your generosity plays a vital role in shaping the Bradley experience. Every gift is an investment in our community and future. To learn more about our commitment to donors, please review our Donor Bill of Rights.
Cash is the simplest, most direct, and most popular type of charitable contribution. Your cash gift to the university can be made in the form of currency, check, credit card, debit card, or digital pay (e.g. ApplePay, Venmo, PayPal, Google Pay, or similar) and can be delivered in person, online, or via mail, electronic funds transfer, or wire transfer.
Many donors consider gifts of appreciated securities to fulfill their charitable giving objectives. Appreciated securities, namely stocks and bonds, are often chosen over cash due to the added benefit of reducing or eliminating capital gains taxes on the assets and can be facilitated through various channels. For instance, you can entrust your securities with your broker or bank and instruct them to work with a Bradley representative to transfer the assets.

Securities held in Certificate Form
Please obtain a separate stock power and have your “signature guaranteed” on the stock power. The stock power and a “signature guarantee” can normally be obtained from a bank or an investment broker. Please sign your names(s) on the stock power as it is printed on the front of the certificate. Also, please fill in the “transfer unto” space with Bradley University. You do not need to sign the certificate at all when you use a stock power.
To reduce risk, you should mail the stock certificate and the stock power via certified mail in separate envelopes to: Bradley University Attn: Terry Kenny 1501 W. Bradley Avenue Peoria, IL 61625
You can also transfer the stock by having your signature guaranteed on the back of the certificate and mailing it to Bradley. It should be noted that signing the back of the certificate makes the certificate a negotiable instrument and potentially dangerous if lost.
The date of the gift is the postmark date when mailed by US Postal Service. The date of delivery is used if the stock gift is delivered by UPS, Fed Ex, or in person. The price of the stock, used in valuing the gift, is the average of the high and low on the date of the gift.
When you mail in your stock, please add a note stating where you want your gift directed.
Securities held by Transfer Agent
If gifting stock held at the donor’s broker: please have your broker wire transfer the stock from your brokerage account to Bradley’s account at PNC Investments brokerage division (301 S. W. Adams St., Peoria, IL 61631). If you decide to transfer securities through the DTC system, please make contact via email or phone with either Terry Kenny ([email protected], 309-677-3490) at Bradley or Ronald Rotondo Jr. ([email protected], 309-266-7246) at PNC Investments to obtain the DTC# and Bradley’s account number. Transfer agents will not disclose the name of the donor to Bradley, so please be sure to contact prior to or immediately following the gift to ensure the gift is properly received and credited to Bradley’s account.
The date of the gift is the date the stock is received in the Bradley University account. The price of the stock, used in valuing the gift, is the average of the high and low on the date of the gift.
Mutual Fund Securities held in your Account
Mutual Fund units cannot always be electronically transferred by the Depository Trust Co. (DTC). Please contact your fund’s 800 number and ask for instructions on transferring shares from your account to Bradley University. Most mutual funds require Bradley University to open an account with the fund to accept a transfer. Usually you must send a letter of instruction, indicating the number of shares and authorizing a transfer into Bradley’s account. Once the transfer occurs the University will liquidate that account and a check will be issued to us. Bradley will consider your contribution equal to the full amount of the value of the mutual fund on the day of transfer.
Note: This transfer process could take as long as three weeks to complete.
Banks provide minimal information regarding wire and security transfers, so please let us know your gift is on its way.
Complete our Gift Transfer Form and then email it to Charlie Roy, Executive Director of Development, or mail it to:

If you are 70 1⁄2 or older, you may transfer up to $105,000 annually to charity without it being categorized as a taxable distribution, yet the gift(s) count toward satisfying your annual required minimum distribution. This provision, known as the IRA charitable rollover or qualified charitable distribution (QCD), was established as a permanent measure under the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act of 2015.
Some donors prefer to leverage tangible assets or personal property (e.g. real estate, equipment, works of art, etc.) to meet their charitable giving goals. If you are interested in making a gift of real estate or other personal property, a member of Bradley’s Advancement Division will provide assistance in identifying the nature of the asset and how it might contribute to furthering the university’s mission.
Many donors are employed by companies that offer matching gift programs for charitable giving. At Bradley, we acknowledge and appreciate the matching gifts you initiate as part of your total giving. We encourage you to inform your company whenever you make a donation to Bradley, and we will promptly verify the date and amount of your gift(s) upon your company’s request.
If you are employed by (or retired from) Caterpillar Inc., please visit Caterpillar Foundation Matching Gifts Program to ensure your gift is matched. If you do not have an e-mail address, please call the Caterpillar Foundation at (309) 675-1475 for assistance.
Completed matching gift forms can be emailed to Gunnar Leaf or mailed to:

Bradley faculty and staff can support Bradley through monthly, quarterly, or yearly contributions through payroll deduction.
Make your recurring gift via payroll deduction by completing the Faculty & Staff Sustainer Gift Form.
Many donors find they can make a more significant impact through a gift made over time. Bradley encourages you to establish a pledge for up to five years if your desire is to make a multi-month or multi-year commitment.
Making a meaningful contribution at the time of your passing is a wonderful way to show support and appreciation for Bradley and its mission. Just as important, such a gift could accommodate your own personal, financial, estate-planning, and philanthropic goals. By smart planning, you could possibly increase the size of your estate and reduce the tax burden on your heirs.

Gift Restrictions
When you give to Bradley University, you can choose how your gift makes an impact. Whether you prefer the flexibility of unrestricted giving or the focused support of a restricted gift, your generosity helps shape the future of our students, faculty, and programs.
By making an unrestricted gift to Bradley, you are putting your trust in the university to make investments that propel the achievement of our students, faculty, and staff for generations to come. In short, when you give without restriction, you can be assured you are supporting the top priorities of the university and its students. Gifts designated to the Bradley Fund, the General Scholarship Fund, any of the university’s five Deans’ Excellence Funds, or the Athletics Fund are considered unrestricted.
Restricted giving provides you with the opportunity to direct your charitable giving dollars toward a special use, such as student scholarships, faculty development, or other program support consistent with the university’s priorities. Restricted gifts may be further designated for a particular academic unit (e.g. a college, school, or department) or non-academic unit (e.g. student services, athletics, etc.).
