Biography
Dr. Hill currently serves as an Assistant Professor In-Residence at Bradley University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and approved Supervisor in the state of Louisiana, a National Board-Certified Counselor, a Board Certified Telemental Health provider, and a Level II Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. She holds a doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision, a master’s degree in Counseling, and a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.
Dr. hill has counseled and/or supervised in a variety of settings including higher education, K-12 education, and private practice. Her current research interests include trauma and trauma treatment, grief and loss, resilience studies, and human trafficking.
Teaching
Courses Taught: Introduction to the Counseling Profession and Ethics, Couples and Family Counseling, Group Theories and Processes of Counseling, Helping Relationships & Skill Development in Counseling, and Pre-Practicum.
Dr. Hill’s philosophy of teaching is centered around creating a safe and supportive space for students to learn and understand the integration of both the foundational concepts and the use of skills and techniques to become competent professional counselors. She strives to combine didactic instruction with varying methods of demonstration, discussion, and role playing to meet the diverse learning needs of my students. Dr. Hill believes in learning and then learning by doing. Utilizing a scaffolding approach to introduce concepts and steadily build on the content helps students to learn and progress without being overwhelmed or left behind.
